Mars weather report
Well, it seems that even with a burp in communications some science is coming from the Phoenix Lander. The Canadian Space agencies meteorological [MET] lab has begun to report. See the image below.
It is part of the Canadian weather station aboard the Phoenix after it has been extended up to detect wind direction and speed. Using kind of old school technics the instrument will swing in the breeze which will be recorded and sent back to earth for recording. In all the MET will provide temperature, pressure, wind speed, and atmosphereic conditions using a lidar system. The Microscopy, Electrochemistry, and Conductivity Analyzer (MECA for short) system will also try to detect and measure any humidity.
